The Neva Lomason Memorial Library anchors the West Georgia Regional Library system, a multi-county public library cooperative serving Carroll, Douglas, Haralson, Heard and Paulding counties in west-central and northwest Georgia. Carrollton, the Carroll County seat, is a college town home to the University of West Georgia and sits roughly 50 miles west of Atlanta on the edge of the Tallapoosa River watershed. The library is named for Neva Lomason, a dedicated community figure who championed public library service in Carroll County for decades. The West Georgia Regional Library traces its roots to the early county library movement of the 1930s, when state support helped establish branch service across rural Georgia. Today the Carrollton headquarters branch holds a broad print collection for all ages, computer workstations, meeting rooms, and programming for children, teens and adults, backed by GALILEO — Georgia's statewide digital library — which cardholders access free of charge.
