📖 About LaGrange Memorial Library

The LaGrange Memorial Library is the main branch and administrative headquarters of the Troup-Harris Regional Library, serving LaGrange and Troup County in west Georgia. Its roots reach back to 1921, when the local Woman's Club opened the first LaGrange Library in the Heard Mansion on Church Street; in 1925 the Rotary Club of LaGrange raised $25,000 in a single day, and the Georgian-style building was dedicated on December 6, 1926 as the LaGrange War Memorial Library, honoring the city's men who died in World War I. In 1976 the library moved to its present home on Alford Street and became the regional headquarters. Today it is part of Georgia's statewide PINES network — one library card borrows from more than 50 Georgia systems — and offers GALILEO research databases, a hands-on makerspace, and an Experience Pass program that lends free admission to local cultural institutions.
