📖 About Plainfield Township Branch

Plainfield Township Branch began modestly in 1968 in the basement of Oakview Elementary School, following KDL bookmobile service to the area in the 1960s. A permanent facility on 5 Mile Rd NE opened in 1978, and a 1995 expansion dramatically scaled the building from 6,250 to 26,420 square feet — transforming it into one of KDL's most substantial branches. The branch offers private study rooms, community meeting rooms, color printing, public computers, a teen space, curbside pickup, free Wi-Fi from 7 AM to 11 PM, and an active Friends of the Library group. Youth programming includes storytimes, toddler time, and new-parent support groups. One of the few branches open on Sundays (1–5 PM), it serves the growing north Kent County suburban corridor.
