📖 About Henry County Library
Clinton's first library opened in September 1927 in a courthouse room, organized by the Women's Civic Club of Henry County. After moving to the former McClane House in 1939, the collection survived that building's 1944 fire and was reorganized; on April 2, 1946 the institution formally became the Henry County Library. The library operated from 123 East Franklin beginning in May 1950 before the current main branch — a purpose-built 17,740-square-foot facility — opened April 25, 1994 at 123 East Green Street. A second branch, the Lenora Blackmore Branch in Windsor, traces its roots to 1937 and was incorporated as a formal branch in 2007. The main library belongs to Missouri Evergreen, a statewide shared catalog consortium, giving Henry County cardholders access to materials from dozens of Missouri public libraries. Services include passport acceptance, notary public, test proctoring, genealogy materials, and a Libby-powered digital collection.
