📖 About Neill Public Library
Neill Public Library was founded on June 20, 1922, when a dedicated group of Pullman women — organized through the local chapter of the American Association of University Women — opened a children's library with approximately 700 books in the basement of the Presbyterian Church (now Greystone Church Apartments). By 1940 the city had formally taken over operations, and by 1962 the library had moved to its current site on North Grand Avenue. The present building was constructed in 1992 and expanded with a substantial addition in 2004. In 2024 the library received a $1.5 million endowment from the Estate of Elinor McCloskey, securing its long-term future. The library maintains the Palouse Heritage Collection — a digitized archive of early Palouse region culture and community life — and offers free notary services through support from the Friends of Neill Public Library. As part of Washington's statewide digital network, cardholders access Kanopy streaming, Gale research databases, Mango language courses, and the Washington Anytime Library for eBooks.
