📖 About Galax Public Library
The Galax Public Library is the central branch of the Galax-Carroll Regional Library, a multi-branch public library system rooted in the independent city of Galax in the southwestern Virginia Blue Ridge. Galax (pop. ~6,700) sits at 2,372 feet elevation on a plateau near the North Carolina border, long known for furniture manufacturing and, since 1935, for the Old Fiddlers Convention — the world's oldest and largest old-time music gathering. The library at 610 West Stuart Drive is part of Virginia's Mountain Network Catalog (Evergreen) shared catalog, giving cardholders access to holdings across the region. A Show Your Library Card & Save discount program partners the library with local businesses, and the library hosts community events including LEGO Club, storytimes, a Writers Group, seed swaps, and seasonal coat exchanges. Passport acceptance services are available by appointment.
