📖 About Mountain Regional Library
The Mountain Regional Library System traces its origins to 1946, when Towns and Union counties joined forces with Young Harris College to establish a shared library that initially used space in the college's Rich Building. Fannin County joined the consortium in 1957, and the system took its current name in 1958. Today MRLS serves approximately 67,000 residents across Fannin, Towns, and Union counties through four branch locations. The Young Harris headquarters branch holds a collection of books, DVDs, audiobooks, and magazines, and offers free Wi-Fi with both indoor and outdoor coverage, Google Chromeboxes and Chromebooks, a dedicated children's area, a community meeting room, and an on-site used bookstore. As a PINES member, a card issued here unlocks the holdings of all 53 Georgia library systems — more than 10.6 million items — through a single catalog. GALILEO further extends access to over 100 databases covering thousands of periodicals and scholarly journals.
