The Augusta-Richmond County Public Library is the headquarters branch of the Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System, serving Augusta and Richmond County in east-central Georgia. The current three-story, 90,000-square-foot building at 823 Telfair Street opened in 2010 at a cost of about $25 million, roughly tripling the size of the system's previous 1960 library and anchoring the corner of Telfair Street and James Brown Boulevard downtown. Designed by Craig Gaulden Davis with Studio 3 Design Group, the red-brick and limestone building houses children's and teen areas, meeting and study rooms, an auditorium, and the Georgia Heritage Room for genealogy and local history. As a member of Georgia's statewide PINES network, an Augusta library card borrows from more than 300 member libraries across the state, and residents can tap GALILEO's research databases for free.
