The Tobin Library at Oakwell opened in 1969 as the Oakwell Branch Library, on Harry Wurzbach Road in northeast San Antonio. The land was originally part of Oakwell Farms and was donated by Robert Lynn Batts Tobin, whose name the branch now carries. The library holds more than 68,000 volumes and is recognized for a strong art and reference collection, one of the largest media collections in the system, and a robust Spanish-language collection. Major renovations in 1995–1996 and again in 2007 expanded the building to about 13,000 square feet. Today the branch serves roughly 200,000 residents across northeast San Antonio and Bexar County.
