📖 About Las Palmas Branch Library

The Las Palmas Branch Library originally opened in 1969 on Castroville Road. After construction that began in 2023, it reopened to the public on November 17, 2025 following a roughly $7 million renovation. The project added a 2,000-square-foot expansion with an H-E-B Community Room, dedicated Teen and Children's areas, updated technology, and improved customer service spaces. The branch holds more than 65,000 items, including audiobooks, videos, DVDs, and music CDs, with adult and juvenile nonfiction interfiled, and its bilingual Spanish-language staff lead community programming. The building is shared with the Father Benavides Community Family Resource Center.
