📖 About Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library
Marshfield, Wisconsin traces its library roots to 1881, when the Women's Christian Temperance Union organized the city's first lending collection and the community began supporting it with public funds. Over the following century the library moved from donated storefronts to three rooms in City Hall, then to its first standalone building in 1960 at 211 East 2nd Street. In July 2015, ground was broken for an entirely new facility funded by a combination of public appropriations and private donations; the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library — named in honor of a generous local benefactor — opened on September 6, 2016. The modern building at 105 S. Maple Avenue is physically connected to the old structure, which reopened in 2019 as the 2nd Street Community Center, creating a campus at the heart of Marshfield.
