📖 About North Shore Library
North Shore Library traces its roots to 1979, when Bayside and Fox Point joined forces to open the Fox Point-Bayside Library in leased space at Stormonth School. Glendale and River Hills joined the partnership in 1985, and on May 18, 1986, the joint library opened a purpose-built 20,000-square-foot facility at 6800 N. Port Washington Road in Glendale — serving 25,485 residents across the four municipalities. In February 2026, the library relocated to a brand-new 24,000-square-foot building at 711 Grace Street, Suite 112, in Bayside, giving the community a modern, expanded space while preserving its Glendale-area service area. The library belongs to the Milwaukee County Federated Library System (MCFLS), one of Wisconsin's first county library systems, established January 1, 1973. MCFLS membership means a North Shore card works at any Milwaukee County member library, and the shared CountyCat catalog allows holds from across the system to be delivered to the nearest branch.
