Abbotsford Public Library serves Abbotsford, Wisconsin, a small city of roughly 2,900 residents in Clark County, in the Wisconsin Valley Library Service system. The city of Abbotsford was first settled around 1872, and the Wisconsin Central Railway came through in 1880–1881, spurring growth that established the public library as a fixture of the community. The library is housed in the city hall complex alongside the fire department and city offices at 203 North First Street. Its collection of more than 17,550 volumes circulates over 24,000 items annually, and the library maintains strong local history and genealogy resources including access to all U.S. Federal Census records, family and county histories, PERSI (PERiodical Source Index) and historical Wisconsin newspaper archives dating from the 1700s through the present via the Wisconsin Newspapers Digital Research Site. As a member of Wisconsin Valley Library Service, the library participates in interlibrary loan and consortium programming.
