Watkins Park Community Library is a branch of Nashville Public Library located at 612 17th Avenue North in North Nashville's Hope Gardens neighborhood, embedded within the Watkins Park Community Center. It is the Nashville Public Library system's smallest branch, having joined the library network in 1992 when it began operating in a single room of the community center — an intentional model for reaching residents in place rather than expecting them to travel to a larger building. Computers and homework support were introduced in 2002 to attract neighborhood students after school, and the branch underwent a renovation in 2015. Despite its compact size, Watkins Park punches above its weight with community-rooted programming: Teen Club, the Southern Word spoken-word and slam-poetry initiative, Studio NPL digital creation, and a Morning Matinee film series bring a wide range of neighbors through the door.
