📖 About Richland Park Branch Library

The Richland Park Branch serves the Sylvan Park neighborhood from 4711 Charlotte Avenue, in a building that began life as a park recreation center that opened in 1952. The city remodeled the structure into a library, which opened to the public on October 23, 1962, under Mayor Ben West. In an unusual chapter of its history, the branch housed Nashville's public radio station WPLN from December 1962 until 1966, when the station moved to the Ben West (Main) Library downtown. The library was expanded in 1979 to meet growing demand from the surrounding neighborhoods. Today it offers free parking, bike racks, public computers, Wi-Fi, mobile printing, and photocopiers in both black-and-white and color. A seed exchange, bookable meeting rooms, tech support, and an outdoor book return round out the amenities.
