The Green Hills Branch opened in 2000 as a spacious 25,000-square-foot library serving the busy Green Hills district south of downtown Nashville. It became one of the system's most heavily used branches, drawing steady traffic from the surrounding retail and residential neighborhood. The building was designed with community life in mind, featuring a meeting room and study rooms, an outdoor patio and garden off the children's area, and a Studio NPL makerspace geared toward teens. A gallery space inside the branch highlights work by local artists, giving the library a role in the neighborhood's cultural life. As of 2026 the branch is closed for a full renovation, and its book return is unavailable, so patrons are asked to use other Nashville Public Library locations. Its official reopening date has not been announced.
