📖 About Seneca East Public Library

The Seneca East Public Library is the public library of Attica, a small village in Seneca County, Ohio. Its roots reach back to a reading room in the early 1900s, and the library was formally recognized by the State of Ohio in 1936 as the Attica Public Library. After the Republic and Attica school districts consolidated in the early 1970s, it was renamed the Seneca East Public Library to reflect the wider community it serves. A downtown fire in 1990 severely damaged the building, but most of the collection was salvaged and a new library was completed on the same Main Street site in 1992, followed by a 2001 annex that added a children's area and a local history room. Today the library belongs to the SEO Library Consortium, so an Attica card searches a shared statewide catalog and borrows free eBooks and audiobooks through Libby.
