📖 About Wyckoff Free Public Library
The Wyckoff Free Public Library was established on January 25, 1921, when the Women's Work Committee passed a resolution to create a Public Library Association after hearing a talk on rural library development. Margaret Rambaut led the effort, and the library opened its doors on May 14, 1921 with 1,050 volumes — including 200 from the state, 250 on loan from the state, and 600 donated by the Zachary Masker Post of the American Legion and local residents. Within three months it had 228 dues-paying members, each paying one dollar. The current 13,480-square-foot building on Woodland Avenue was dedicated on October 25, 1970, and was designed to hold 50,000 volumes. The library belongs to the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS), a consortium of 75 public libraries across Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Passaic Counties, giving cardholders access to a shared catalog of millions of items and a full suite of statewide digital resources.
