📖 About Gering Public Library
Gering Public Library is the public library of Gering, Nebraska, Scotts Bluff County seat and one of the Nebraska Panhandle's principal communities. Gering was officially incorporated in 1887, named for pioneer merchant Martin Gering, and occupies the south bank of the North Platte River just across from Scottsbluff — with Scotts Bluff National Monument, a landmark on the Oregon, California and Mormon trails, rising three miles to the west. The library is housed at 1055 P Street and is a member of the Western Library System, the regional network coordinated by the Nebraska Library Commission for the Panhandle and western Nebraska. Its collection of more than 32,000 items includes books, audiobooks, DVDs, periodicals and downloadable digital titles. The library provides homebound delivery to Gering residents who cannot visit in person due to illness or disability, year-round storytimes for toddlers and preschoolers, after-school programming from September through May, and summer reading programs for children and adults.
