📖 About Bacon Memorial District Library
The library occupies the Ford–Bacon House, a four-story Queen Anne-style residence built in 1897 for Edward Ford, son of plate-glass pioneer John Baptiste Ford. In 1942, Mary Ford Bacon donated the property upon the death of her husband Mark R. Bacon. The building was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1987 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. Today the library serves Wyandotte's 25,000 residents with 48,966 print volumes, 44,999 eBooks, and a Local History Collection that includes microfilm of the Wyandotte News going back to the 1880s, Census microfilm, local photographs, death records, and cemetery data maintained in partnership with the Wyandotte Historical Society.
