📖 About Ionia Community Library
The Ionia Community Library sits inside the Hall-Fowler Memorial House, a landmark Italianate building constructed in 1869–1870 for Frederick Hall, widely regarded as the wealthiest man in Ionia County in the nineteenth century. Hall's daughter Marion Hall-Fowler donated the mansion to the city of Ionia in 1903 as a memorial to her parents and husband, stipulating it be used as a public library in perpetuity. The structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971 and remains part of the Historic American Buildings Survey. Today the library serves Ionia County residents with over 50 hours of weekly access, digital borrowing through Libby and MeLCat, public computers and Wi-Fi, and programming for children, teens and adults.
