📖 About Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library

Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library (TSCPL) has been a cornerstone of the capital city since the mid-1800s, with Shawnee County voters renewing their commitment to it during the 1990s by approving tax measures to expand its collections and facilities. The current building at 1515 SW 10th Avenue features the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery, a fully staffed art gallery hosting rotating exhibitions free and open to the public. The library's Level 2 Tech Center equips patrons with advanced tools for design, digital creation, and skill-building, while CoLab and team rooms support collaboration. For those who cannot visit in person, TSCPL@Home and TSCPL@Work deliver materials directly — a nod to the library's long-standing mission to reach every corner of Shawnee County. The Topeka Room preserves the local history and genealogy of the city most famous as the home of the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court case.
