📖 About Bloomfield Public Library
Bloomfield Public Library traces its roots to a subscription library association organized in 1869, making it one of Davis County's oldest civic institutions. The current Tudor Revival brick building opened August 8, 1913, funded by a $10,000 Carnegie Corporation grant secured by Bloomfield's Commercial Club and designed by the Des Moines firm of Wetherell and Gage. The 57-by-35-foot structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 13, 2015 (NRHP #15000721). In 2018 a modern addition reopened the building with an upstairs children's area, a coffee lounge, meeting rooms, and an ADA-accessible elevator — blending preserved Carnegie character with expanded community space. The library holds over 25,000 physical items and serves Bloomfield, Pulaski, Floris, Drakesville, and surrounding rural Davis County.
