📖 About Schaumburg Township District Library
The Schaumburg Township District Library dates to 1962, when township voters first approved tax funding for a public library. After a 1995 referendum, construction of the current Central Library on Schaumburg Town Square began in 1997, and the library moved into the 166,000-square-foot building in 1998 — making it the second-largest public library in Illinois. The Central Library holds more than 600,000 items and offers over 180 public computers, an Enchanted Forest children's area, and a second-floor glass sculpture by renowned artist Dale Chihuly. The library serves roughly 130,000 residents of Schaumburg Township, along with parts of Hanover Park, Streamwood, Elk Grove Village and Hoffman Estates, and operates two additional branches — the Hoffman Estates Branch at 1550 Hassell Road and the Hanover Park Branch at 1266 Irving Park Road. A RAILS member, it connects patrons statewide through Find More Illinois interlibrary loan.
