📖 About St. Simons Island Public Library
The St. Simons Island Public Library was founded in 1937 by Abbie Fuller Graham, who gathered 50 books into the Clark residence on Arnold Road to start the island's first lending collection. Within the same year the Cassina Garden Club took the library under its wing and Glynn County Commissioners agreed to house it in the newly built Casino building — a WPA-funded brick structure that replaced an older wooden pavilion destroyed by fire in 1935. The library moved into the Casino at Neptune Park in 1950 and has remained there ever since, occupying more than 4,000 square feet with sound-and-island views that no other library in the Georgia Golden Isles can match. On July 1, 2013, St. Simons Island merged with the downtown Brunswick branch to form Marshes of Glynn Libraries, a two-branch PINES system serving all of Glynn County. Today the library offers adult and children's collections, public computers, device lending, voter registration assistance, and Jekyll Island day passes — a practical perk for a community that lives minutes from one of Georgia's most visited state parks.
