The Treutlen County Library has served Soperton and rural Treutlen County since 1959, when Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Sparks privately funded and built the town's first public library building in memory of their son. The current building at 585 Second Street was dedicated in 1983 and underwent renovation and remodeling in 2014. The library belongs to the Oconee Regional Library System, a five-county cooperative headquartered in Dublin that spans more than 2,000 square miles of central and southeast Georgia. Its nearly 20,000 circulating items are supplemented by six public computers, six children's computers, and a PINES card that opens the door to 10.6 million items across 53 Georgia library systems through interlibrary loan.
