The Seminole Heights Branch Library traces its roots to 1927, when it opened as one of the seven founding city libraries of Tampa. After decades in a series of buildings along Central Avenue, including a facility briefly renovated in 2003 and ultimately demolished in 2012, a handsome new two-story, 22,000-square-foot structure in the American Craftsman architectural style opened on March 17, 2014. The branch serves the Seminole Heights and Hampton Terrace communities — historic bungalow neighborhoods just north of downtown — and is situated near Hillsborough High School and Memorial Middle School. As part of the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library System, cardholders access Libby for eBooks and audiobooks, Kanopy for streaming films, and the Florida Electronic Library's statewide research databases.
