📖 About Boynton Beach City Library
Boynton Beach established its city library in 1960, when the municipality purchased and expanded a residential home at 116 S. Seacrest Boulevard. Within months, 858 borrowers had checked out 8,050 volumes. Successive additions enlarged the building through 1968, when the Boynton Beach Historical Society dedicated a new Florida Room. The library grew alongside the city's rapid Sun Belt expansion and moved into its current home in July 2020, occupying a modern space within the mixed-use Town Square development at 100 E. Ocean Avenue. The collection of roughly 123,000 volumes circulates more than 361,000 items annually, serving around 69,000 residents. The library also maintains Local History Archives — a curated collection of photographs, clippings and documents covering Boynton Beach's history accessible through its Omeka digital portal.
