The North Dade Regional Library anchors library services for the cities of Miami Gardens, Opa-locka, and surrounding northern Miami-Dade communities. As a regional branch of the Miami-Dade Public Library System (MDPLS) — one of the largest urban library systems in the United States, with more than 49 branches — North Dade offers the full range of MDPLS services: a deep physical collection, public computers, high-speed Wi-Fi, meeting and auditorium spaces, and access to the system-wide digital catalog at mdpls.na.iiivega.com. The branch is home to YOUmedia Miami, a nationally recognized teen learning space where young people create music, video, and digital art using professional equipment. It is also one of only three MDPLS branches certified by the U.S. Department of State to accept passport applications, processing thousands of applications each year. Patrons receive the Miami Herald, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and El Nuevo Herald online, and can download or stream through Libby, hoopla, and Freegal Music.
