📖 About Duck Creek Regional Library
Duck Creek Regional Library serves Smyrna and the surrounding communities of Kent County, Delaware, from its new facility at 22 South Main Street. The library's story begins in 1858, when Smyrna residents founded a subscription library in Odd Fellows Hall — one of Delaware's earliest community reading institutions. Over the following 167 years the library grew through community support, a devastating 1948 Christmas Eve fire that destroyed its former home's third floor, an Opera House restoration (1998–2003) that expanded the collection space, and finally the opening of a purpose-built modern facility in 2025. Today Duck Creek Regional Library belongs to the statewide Delaware Division of Libraries network, so a single Delaware library card unlocks the full Delaware Library Catalog, Libby, hoopla, Kanopy, and a suite of digital databases — all free to cardholders.
