📖 About Danbury Library
Danbury Library sits at 170 Main Street in the heart of one of Connecticut's fastest-growing cities, serving a diverse community of over 85,000 residents in Fairfield County. Its mission is to be 'a welcoming destination responsive to the varied needs of our city's diverse community, and a source of inspiration through words and ideas.' Beyond its extensive physical collection, the library offers three uniquely equipped spaces unavailable at most public libraries: the MakerLab, a free experiential fabrication studio for ages 13+ featuring 3D printers, a Cricut Maker, and a sewing/embroidery machine; Studio 170, a professional recording facility for music, podcasts, and voice work; and a Sensory Space designed to help visitors manage stress and improve focus, equipped with interactive LED lighting, fiber optic strands, climbing foam, and noise-reduction headphones. The library welcomes students from Western Connecticut State University and Naugatuck Valley Community College with free cards, and non-resident Connecticut library cardholders may link their hometown card for borrowing access. Danbury also lends museum passes for free admission to cultural venues and digital devices, extending its reach far beyond books.
