📖 About Basalt Regional Library
Basalt Regional Library anchors the midvalley of Colorado's Roaring Fork corridor, serving a community that straddles the Eagle–Pitkin county line just upstream from where the Fryingpan River joins the Roaring Fork. The library relocated from Lions Park in 2010 into a purpose-built 21,000-square-foot LEED Silver-certified facility on Midland Avenue, designed by OZ Architecture (Denver) with A4 Architects (Carbondale). Its signature 28-foot curtain wall of glass frames panoramic views of Basalt Mountain across the river, while beetle-kill pine and spruce trunks beneath a skylight distinguish the youth wing. Governed by a bi-county Board of Trustees and funded by a voter-approved mill levy, the library circulates roughly 174,500 items a year to a service population of about 10,800 residents. USA Today named the building one of Colorado's 25 must-see structures in 2018.
