📖 About R.T. Jones Memorial Library
R.T. Jones Memorial Library is the headquarters and largest branch of the Sequoyah Regional Library System, which serves Cherokee, Pickens and Gilmer counties in north Georgia. The library carries the name of Robert Tyre Jones Sr., a Canton businessman and grandfather of legendary golfer Bobby Jones, who bought and donated the first building used as a public library in the city. The system itself dates to 1923, when the Canton Woman's Club donated a book collection first shelved in a downtown jewelry store; a regional system for Cherokee and Pickens counties followed in 1958. The current 30,000-square-foot headquarters building at 116 Brown Industrial Parkway opened on July 12, 1991, and today anchors a network of branches in Ball Ground, Woodstock, Ellijay, Jasper and beyond. Alongside print books, DVDs, audiobooks and eBooks, the branch is home to a seed library and provides maker technology such as 3D printing and digitizing equipment.
