📖 About Lincoln Acres Branch Library
The Lincoln Acres Branch Library is part of the San Diego County Library (SDCL) and serves Lincoln Acres, an unincorporated community that sits wholly within the city limits of National City. Library service in the community dates back to 1940, and for decades the branch operated out of a tiny 854-square-foot building — at one point the smallest facility in the entire county system — that had been purchased from a Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Vista and relocated here in 1961. That cramped, outdated building was eventually replaced by a modern 2,650-square-foot branch featuring wireless Internet, laptops and an expanded children's area. As an SDCL branch it shares a single free library card and catalog with more than 30 county locations, so a Lincoln Acres cardholder can borrow across the whole system and stream or download titles for free through Libby, hoopla and Kanopy.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Lincoln Acres library in National City or a separate town?
Lincoln Acres is an unincorporated community of San Diego County that lies completely within the boundaries of the city of National City, so the branch has a National City mailing address even though it serves the distinct Lincoln Acres community.
Why was a new Lincoln Acres branch built?
The former building was only about 854 square feet — for years the smallest branch in the San Diego County Library system — and had become outdated. A roughly $3 million county project replaced it with a modern 2,650-square-foot branch with wireless Internet, laptops and a larger children's area.
What day is the Lincoln Acres branch open the latest?
Tuesday, when it stays open until 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday run 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Friday and Saturday are 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and the branch is closed Monday and Sunday.
Does my card work at other San Diego County libraries?
Yes. A free San Diego County Library card works at every SDCL branch and the shared online catalog, so you can place holds, pick up and return items across the county and use Libby, hoopla and Kanopy from home.
