📖 About Palo Verde Library

Opened in January 2006, the Palo Verde Library is a 16,000-square-foot branch that anchors the Maryvale Community Complex alongside the Maryvale Community Center and Maryvale Pool, an intentional pairing meant to let west Phoenix residents engage in what its designers called a 'mind/body dialogue.' Designed by Gould Evans in association with Wendell Burnette Architects, the building has become one of the most decorated libraries in the city, earning a 2009 AIA/ALA National Honor Award and a place among Library Journal's '10 New Landmark Libraries' in 2011. Beyond its architecture, the branch is built for practical community use, featuring a dedicated assistive computer workstation, electric-vehicle charging, mobile printing, and 24/7 holds lockers. Community meeting spaces are available at the adjacent Maryvale Community Center, and accessible parking is provided west of the building.
