The Trapper Creek Public Library is one of five Matanuska-Susitna Borough public libraries, serving the community that stretches along the Parks Highway from roughly Mile 114 to the foothills of the Alaska Range. Trapper Creek itself traces its name to the Rabidoux brothers — Oliver and Noah — who trapped the area in the early twentieth century; a 1905 gold strike drew miners to the Cache Creek district, and the Alaska Railroad's 1914 construction opened a route north.
