📖 About Hoover Public Library

Hoover Public Library opened on October 8, 1983, after the Friends of the Hoover Public Library spent two years fundraising for a dedicated facility. Starting in a 4,000-square-foot leased space at River Oaks Village with 8,000 volumes, it quickly outgrew its first home and relocated in November 1985 to 10,000 square feet on the second floor of the new Hoover Municipal Complex at 200 Municipal Drive. Today the library serves one of Alabama's fastest-growing cities with an expansive collection, premium online databases, and a thriving events calendar. A second branch, Lee Branch at 701 Doug Baker Boulevard, extends coverage to the eastern corridor and is home to the East 59 Cafe. Hoover Public Library is a member of the Jefferson County Library Cooperative — one card opens more than 40 locations across the county.
