The Anderson-Foothill Branch at 1135 South 2100 East has served Salt Lake City's east-bench Foothill and Sunnyside neighborhoods since it opened in 1985. The 14,900-square-foot building was designed with passive solar energy principles — earth-berming, strategically placed windows for solar heating, and zone supplemental heating and cooling — making it one of the more energy-conscious public buildings in the city when it opened. Two subsequent expansions, in 1992 and 2002, brought the branch to its current size and added modern amenities. A public meeting room equipped with tables, chairs, and a projector screen is available for community use, and an outdoor amphitheater on the grounds hosts summer concerts and community events. Free parking is available both north and south of the building. As one of the nine branches of the Salt Lake City Public Library system, Anderson-Foothill shares the full SLCPL catalog, digital collections — including Libby, hoopla, Kanopy, and Pioneer Utah's Online Library — and card reciprocity with all other system locations.
