📖 About Saint Paul Public Library — Arlington Hills
The Arlington Hills branch traces its roots to 1917, when it opened alongside the Riverview and Saint Anthony Park branches as one of Saint Paul's original Carnegie-funded libraries. Designed by local architect Charles A. Hausler in the Beaux-Arts style at 1105 Greenbrier Street, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. In 2014 the branch relocated to a contemporary 9,300-square-foot space inside the $14 million Arlington Hills Community Center at 1200 Payne Avenue — a joint facility run with Saint Paul Parks and Recreation. Today the branch is a full-service neighborhood hub serving the Payne–Phalen and Dayton's Bluff communities on Saint Paul's East Side. The Saint Paul Public Library system, founded in 1882 and now operating 13 branches plus a bookmobile, eliminated overdue fines in 2019 as part of its racial equity initiative.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Arlington Hills library the same as the historic Carnegie building on Greenbrier Street?

What is smARTpass and can I use it at Arlington Hills?
smARTpass is a Saint Paul Public Library system-wide program that lets cardholders reserve free and discounted tickets to Twin Cities arts venues — including the Children's Theatre Company, local music clubs and museums. Any SPPL cardholder can book passes through sppl.org/smartpass/, so Arlington Hills patrons are eligible.
