📖 About Carroll County Public Library — North Carroll Branch
The North Carroll Branch of Carroll County Public Library traces its roots to 1955, when the Junior Woman's Club of Hampstead founded the original Hampstead Library — an initiative recognized with a Federation Prize. After joining the county system in 1958 as the Northeast Branch, it moved to its current facility on Hanover Pike, midway between Hampstead and Manchester, opening as a full-service branch in February 1990. Interior renovations in 2011 improved safety access, and a full interior refresh in fall 2025 brought new shelving, a redesigned customer service desk, updated lighting, paint, and carpet — with the branch reopening November 14, 2025. Today the branch serves northern Carroll County with a broad collection, two meeting rooms, passport acceptance services, an EV charging station, and a Play and Learn Center for early learners.
