C. Burr Artz Public Library is the main branch of Frederick County Public Libraries, named in honor of C. Burr Artz, a prominent Frederick attorney and civic leader who championed public library service in the county. Situated at 110 East Patrick Street in the heart of Frederick's historic downtown, the building places patrons within walking distance of the city's nineteenth-century streetscape and Civil War heritage sites. The library's signature resource is the Maryland Room, a noncirculating special collection of primary and secondary sources focused on Frederick County, Maryland history, genealogy, and Civil War documentation, managed by dedicated archival staff.
