📖 About Talbot County Free Library
The Talbot County Free Library is the public library system of Talbot County, Maryland, with its main branch in Easton and a second branch in St. Michaels. It opened on October 15, 1925, when Caroline Burnite Walker, a retired Enoch Pratt Free Library children's librarian who had moved back to Easton, raised about $4,149 and started a library with roughly 800 books in two rented rooms. The system marked its 100th anniversary in 2025. The Easton branch at 100 W. Dover Street houses the Maryland Room, a special collection focused on the genealogy and history of Talbot County and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
