The O'Fallon Public Library serves the St. Clair County city of O'Fallon, in Illinois's Metro East across the Mississippi River from St. Louis. It was founded on April 12, 1930, as the O'Fallon Woman's Club Public Library, opening in a second-floor room of the First National Bank building at 101 West State Street. The library later moved to 119 East First Street in 1945, returned to the First National Bank building in 1962, and added a children's wing in 1983 before settling into its current home at 120 Civic Plaza in 1995. Today the library holds more than 80,000 materials — including over 64,000 books plus music, audiobooks and digital collections — and is a member of the Illinois Heartland Library System, a network of more than 500 libraries across central and southern Illinois that share resources through the SHARE consortium.
