The Kahuku Public and School Library opened on November 25, 1968, sharing space on the Kahuku High and Intermediate School campus along Kamehameha Highway. As part of the Hawaiʻi State Public Library System, it functions as both a school library and a community branch, drawing residents from Kahuku, Kaʻaʻawa, Lāʻie, Hauʻula and Sunset Beach. Its dual mission means the reading room fills with students during the school day and remains open to the general public, including seasonal North Shore visitors, through its posted public hours.
