Millsboro Public Library opened on December 6, 1973, made possible in large part by the advocacy of Ethel Timmons of the Millsboro Women's Civic Club and local educator Virginia Frazier. The inaugural facility occupied a former post office and dress shop on Main Street before a purpose-built replacement opened on October 6, 1997, at 217 West State Street. The current building spans 9,985 square feet and serves a quickly growing community in the Nanticoke River region of southern Sussex County. In addition to a broad circulating collection and access to the statewide Delaware Library Catalog, Millsboro stands out for its on-site notary service available every weekday morning through early afternoon, and for offering free admission passes to the Delaware Botanic Gardens — a unique cultural perk for cardholders.
