📖 About Encinitas Library

The Encinitas branch of the San Diego County Library traces its roots to October 1914, when community residents petitioned for library service. After decades at earlier sites, including a 4,100-square-foot Cornish Drive facility opened in 1966, the old building was demolished in 2004 and a new state-of-the-art library opened on the same hilltop on February 23, 2008. Located five blocks from the Pacific, the current building features an outdoor reading deck spanning its west side with sweeping coastal views. As part of SDCL, the branch offers free Wi-Fi, public computers, a community meeting room, a MakerBot 3D printer and a Friends of the Library bookstore, and is open seven days a week.
