📖 About Parsons Memorial Library
Parsons Memorial Library opened in 1903 under a charter that has guided its mission ever since: to provide materials and services fulfilling the educational, informational, cultural, and recreational needs of the entire community in a welcoming atmosphere. In 1993 the library expanded with the addition of the C. G. Magnuson Wing, increasing capacity for collections and community programming. The library is governed by a Board of Trustees and staffed by Library Director Roycean Weyand and Program Directors Emma Kilgore and Dominique Zulueta. Alfred is York County's shire town and the seat of the York County Courthouse, giving the village an outsized civic footprint for its small population — and Parsons Memorial Library is the community's cultural complement to that civic identity. Membership is free to all Alfred-area residents.
