Crown Point Community Library opened in 1908 as one of 164 Carnegie Libraries built across Indiana — making the Hoosier State the nation's leader in Carnegie-funded public libraries. The landmark building at 122 North Main Street has served readers for more than a century, and in January 2026 the Carnegie Corporation of New York awarded the library a $10,000 gift as part of its Carnegie Libraries 250 initiative celebrating America's 250th anniversary. Today the library is one of approximately 750 original Carnegie structures still operating as public libraries nationwide. Beyond the historic main building, a Winfield Branch at 10771 Randolph Street serves northwest Lake County. The library's dedicated Indiana Room provides deep genealogical and local-history research resources, and its Book Club to Go kits allow community reading groups across the region to borrow curated title collections.
