📖 About Mission Valley Library

Mission Valley Library serves the communities of Mission Valley, Fashion Valley, Friars Road, and surrounding neighborhoods from its location inside the Fenton Marketplace shopping center, with direct trolley access just steps from the Green Line platform. When it opened in July 2002 it was already among the largest City libraries, and the American Institute of Architects recognized its design with the award for Best Institutional Design. The building's 104-capacity meeting room is adorned with rotating public art, while a generous outdoor patio at street level offers a children's garden, mezzanine seating area, and upper terrace — rare outdoor space among urban library branches. Inside, 26 public computers, two 12-person study rooms, and language collections make it a hub for both students and newcomers to San Diego. The San Diego Public Library catalog (sdpl.na5.iiivega.com) and digital platforms are accessible with a free SDPL card to any San Diego County resident.
