📖 About Mt. Olive Public Library
Mount Olive Township was created by the New Jersey Legislature in 1871 from portions of Roxbury Township and named for Benjamin Olive, a colonial-era Lieutenant Governor who donated land for local churches. The township's library association was founded in 1976 and operated as a private organization until a 1986 referendum municipalized it. A major addition in 1979 and a second in 1991 preceded the move to the purpose-built facility that opened in January 2005 at 202 Flanders-Drakestown Road in Flanders. The Mt. Olive Public Library is a member of M.A.I.N. (Morris Automated Information Network), giving cardholders borrowing access to over 2 million items across 36 Morris County libraries through interlibrary loan and a shared catalog.
